Thinking about CrossFit? Here's how to start at MAV.
If you've been looking at CrossFit and wondering how you'd manage in a class, you probably have a few questions. You might be worried about keeping up, not knowing the movements, or being the only person who hasn't done this before.
You can bring those questions with you. You don't need to figure everything out before you get here.
The first step is a conversation
At Maverick CrossFit, you can start with a No-Sweat Intro. We'll talk about what you want to work on, what training has looked like for you, and what's made it difficult to get started or stay consistent.
You can ask us about the gym, the coaching, and what getting started would look like. There's no workout required for that conversation. It's a chance for us to get to know each other and work out a sensible next step.
If you're nervous, tell us. If you haven't exercised in a while, tell us that, too. It helps us understand where you're coming from.
You don't need to know the movements
Learning is part of training here. Our Foundations process gives us a place to teach the basics and help you become more comfortable before expecting you to navigate a class.
You'll hear unfamiliar words. You'll practice movements that feel awkward at first. That's normal when you're learning something new. Ask us to explain it again if you need to.
The workout has to fit the person
People in a class can have different experience levels and still train together. Your coach helps you choose an appropriate weight, movement, and pace for the day's workout.
That might mean using a lighter barbell, changing a movement, or adjusting how much work you're doing. The goal is to give you a useful workout you can do well and build on over time.
You don't have to make those decisions alone. Coaching is part of what you're coming here for.
Start with the week you actually have
We'll also talk about your schedule. Work, family, and the rest of your life still need room. It helps to choose a routine you can realistically follow and adjust it as you learn what works.
You don't have to arrive with a perfect plan. A starting point and some help are enough to get the conversation going.
If you're thinking about CrossFit in Melbourne, send Maverick CrossFit a message. We'll set up a time to talk, answer your questions, and help you figure out where to begin.
